About Black Cats School of Motoring

Black Cats School of Motoring was established by myslf Kevin Cassidy. Having previously worked as a driving instructor with another driving establishment I decided to introduce my very own driving school.

Originally from the North East I am now based in leeds where I live with my wife Jennifer and my son Theo who is 8 years old. Away from work I am a keen follower of football and I have supported Sunderland AFC for all of of my life, reguarly following the team the length and breath of the country in the hope of seeing a win for the Black Cats. The choice of name and the vehicle colours for the driving school was therefore obvious.

I'd like to think my humour and cheerfullness will put our pupils at ease whilst learning. Learning to drive should be a fun experience and we hope our experience, knowledge and some Black Cats luck will see our pupils successfully pass their test.

Client-Centred Learning

People learn in different ways and at different speeds. If someone who likes time to reflect on their learning is forced to move on to the next thing too quickly it could slow down their progress. Or if someone who likes to learn by trying things out is made to watch too many demonstrations without having a go they will get frustrated.

Client-centred learning is an approach to learning that takes into account how the learner prefers to learn. When people learn in this way they are more likely to retain information and skills. People are also more likely to keep learning if they are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning at an early stage – this is the second aim of client-centred learning.
